You will also find some prehistoric burial sites, to which the national information centre is dedicated, in Borger. Other places of interest are the museum village of Orvelte, “het Noorderdierenpark” (zoo) in Emmen and “Het Land van Weldadigheid” in Frederiksoord. You could also make a visit to the capital of the region, Assen, a 19th century city where the Drents Museum is situated.
